Whoop! Here we go, here's what I got up to with the handouts from the September classes:
| This is a page from the very fabulous Legendary Landscapes Colouring Book that was kindly donated to the class by its creators, Witek Radomski and Carrie Wong. I decided to use a portion of the page for my cover. |
| Here's what my cover looked like when I finished. I started with the Marabu Crayons we have in class, as well as overpainting with the water-soluble crayons and rainbow pencils. Then I added the year and the month using a lettering stencil. |
| The inside front cover: I wrapped some of the front cover page around the edge onto this page, and then added some quotes from page 7 of the handouts and some collaging and writing. |
| For this page, I started with my usual "cover the page with images and lined paper" approach and then just started writing, partly inspired by the images themselves and partly just stream of consciousness. I often don't know where my writing will end up when I start ~ and I often write something interesting that I wasn't expecting. One of the bonuses of creative journaling. |
| For this page, I started by covering it completely with a selection of papers in a limited colour palette: red, orange, yellow, black and gray. I relied on my intuition for placement and direction. As you can see, I seem to have a preference for grid-type layouts, but I also try not to let them rule me too much. And then I just start writing again. It's important not to get too attached to what you write ~ just write! Learn to live with the uncertainty of what might come. It's always worth it. |
| The paper I glued on this page was leftover from our session in the spring when I was demonstrating scraping and stenciling. Yeah, I'm really cheap like that - if I've done something to that piece of paper, I'm probably going to find a use for it, even if it's only a background to start on. I wanted to show you this page because I wanted to show you I CANNOT DRAW and I don't let that stop me, and neither should you. Did you notice the writing on the bottom of her skirt? |
And now ... some collage sheets for you. I made these as demos in the class, so I thought you might to like to have them to printout and use in your journals if you like ...
That's all for this month ~ phew! So many words! Pace yourselves accordingly ... see you in class!
Wonderful examples and sharing. Good for jump starting our ideas. from Rose in PR
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose! Everyone journals in their own way, but it can be useful to see what other people do.
