Class 1 ~ Making your journal ~ don't be nervous!

I thought we'd start off with making journals this round, instead of ending with it. For those of you who just finished off series 2, these handouts will be very familiar:

I like to colour my handouts (black and white is *so* boring!) Feel free to do likewise. Below is my new more colourful page 1. Your creative experience may vary ...
And I threw in an extra page on journal making as well:
I used the usual suspects for materials: the background is from one of the Meditation magazines we had in class (the article was about genetics and meditation). Sometimes I like to leave a little hint of what was there before, so even though I covered up most of the article, I left the line "and the development of the nervous system" uncovered, as a wink and a nod to being nervous about making a journal. The rest of the article is covered up with one of my *favourite* free items - a page from a lined notepads that realtors are always seem to like sending us as advertising. I covered up the name of the realtor (on the top) and their contact info (on the bottom) with appropriate bits from our class handouts. Plus a little washi tape (purple circles to match the molecules in the image) and a felt pen border, and yellow colouring for the pencil quote at the bottom as well.

A word about "nervousness" and journal making and journaling: I think it's perfectly normal to feel nervous learning a new skill, but remember, you've been learning new skills all your life ~ from the moment of your first breath (and maybe even before) ~ so don't let nervousness hold you back!

    1. Hi Susan - we're just using very cheap 20 lb. photocopy paper because that's what I have. We're doing mostly collage on it (no wet media) so it'll stand up. If we were painting on the pages, I'd use something stronger. and *thanks* for the compliment!
