We started this week's class with an exercise in creativity. Print out the page below and give yourself five minutes to turn the circles into as many different circular shaped things as you can. Better yet, do it with a group of friends and see how many you have in common with everyone, and how many are unique.
How did you do? How many circles were you able to complete in five minutes? Did you think to join some circles together to make combined-circle objects? Did the size range of objects you drew cover both small and large? And how about "real" vs. abstract (a happy face, for instance). How about texture ~ like a ball of yarn and a bowling ball? Did you enjoy this exercise? Was if fun or did it make you anxious, like a school assignment? What do you think that's about?
It's interesting to think about creativity. Last week we talked about how people who look at positive images not only see more positive solutions to problems but also MORE of them. Opening yourself up to creativity exercises is one way to get your mind used to thinking more freely as well.
