Today I Am Inspired by : Maira Kalman and Wei Wu Wei

There's something so delightfully "every day" about the work Maira Kalman does. She celebrates the beautiful little objects and quirks in our lives that may seem small, but add up to something wonderful when you put them all together. To my mind, her flat, folk-arty vignettes of life are drenched through with meaning. If we haven't owned those particular shoes, or that particular hat, or this other lovely little object, it doesn't matter ~ we've got something just like it tucked away ~ on a bookcase, in a closet, in our hearts ~ that means just as much to us. We know what she means, and what she wants by painting them. Lovely stuff.

I've paired her with a quote by Wei Wu Wei that struck me as just the sort of thing Maira Kalman would say to help us make sense of the objects in our lives.
