Today I Am Inspired by : Sophie Munns and Albert Einstein

I can't remember where I first came across Sophie Munns' work but I can guarantee it had something to do with seeds. Or pods. Or something similarly organic, since these are her favorite inspirations for all the patterns she works with. I also fell in love with not only the shapes but also the colours of her work, which also feature natural tones and influences.

If you look closely at her work on the first page below, and then at mine below that, you'll probably easily spot the *tiny little section of spoked wheels* on her work that set me off on mine. And that's what *good* imitation can do: spark a little something in you that grows to something bigger.

I always say it was while doing this piece (I *never* do abstract) that I finally figured out WHY people do abstract. It was pleasantly mind-altering in a way that I expect drug-taking might be. A joy to work on the layers and how they related to each other without having to worry about whether or not what I was creating was "realistic".

The quote from Albert Einstein seemed a good match, for I too believe that I have "no special talent, but an only passionately curious". Having that attitude, especially in art-making, has made all the difference.
